Help Vulnerable Children: Feeding the Body and Spirit of Hungry Kids

“Vulnerable.” “At-risk.” Some kids have labels like these that follow them around everywhere they go. But for several days last year, thirty-eight girls ages 8–12, got to shed those labels and just be kids.

That’s what happened when Send Relief hosted a summer camp at our ministry center in Valdosta, Georgia, for children who are in foster care, at risk of homelessness, or have a parent who is a migrant worker.

These kids got to spend one whole week doing kid things—things they don’t always get to do in their normal, everyday lives. They played games and hung out with horses. They ate three delicious, nourishing meals every day. They even learned important life lessons about teamwork and God’s love. As the week went on, a couple of the girls began asking deep questions about faith, and staff members were able to share the gospel with them.

When the week was over, not just the girls but their entire families were changed. Because of the faithfulness of Send Relief missionaries, those families heard the gospel and some committed their lives to Christ. Please pray for the relationships that were formed that week—that they would grow and there would be even more opportunities to share the gospel.

Right now in the U.S., there are more than 300,000 children in the foster care system. And around the world, 1.4 billion children under the age of 15 lack basic social protection, which leaves them vulnerable to disease, poverty, and missed education.

You can help meet the needs of vulnerable children all over the world and show them the love of Christ with the gifts shown here!
