How to Share the Gospel in Compassion Ministry

By Send Relief Staff

Salvation is the work of God. We are called to proclaim the gospel, planting seeds that only He can make grow.

When we serve with bold compassion, we naturally share the gospel as we meet the needs of vulnerable people in our communities. It’s easy to feel discouraged when we don’t see immediate fruit, but compassion ministry is a marathon, not a sprint. The Lord often works in ways we can’t yet see, sometimes the harvest comes in years, sometimes in moments.

We stay faithful when we remember these two truths about sharing the gospel in compassion ministry:

1. Our faith must be in God alone.

Our faith cannot be in our ability, our words, or our power. We trust in God to bring people to faith in Christ through His Spirit. We must have a proper view of our role in sharing and a trust in God.

2. We must be involved in the lives of those we serve.

When we are close to people and involved in their lives, we can remove barriers and show them to path to Christ. We can continue to show up, to pray, to help, and to proclaim the truth that Jesus is the only one who can restore us.

Faithfulness is not measured by visible results but by consistent obedience. Keep showing up. Keep serving. God is faithful to finish what He starts.
