The Maison Prisca program, supported by Send Relief in Central African Republic, is investing in young women, boosting the local economy, and spreading the gospel. Located in the heart of Africa, Central African Republic is known for its architecture and natural resources, including timber, diamonds, and gold. Still, the country remains underdeveloped and most of the population lives in poverty.
The project provides sewing training and spiritual guidance to vulnerable women like Cynthia*, a program trainee whose father died in the 2013 civil war.
“I was touched by the gospel, thanks to the project, and surrendered my life to Christ,” said Cynthia. “The [sewing] kit will give me financial independence and I will work to the best of my ability for my well-being, the well-being of others, and [to] spread the gospel in my sewing workshop.”
The community in this region of Central African Republic has also shown an eagerness to help improve circumstances for trainees. Twenty-eight local churches have devoted time and resources to assist Send Relief partners through their prayers and transportation of volunteers for the Maison Prisca program.
Participants have become self-sufficient, gaining respect from their peers and with local leaders taking notice. The local mayor even spoke at one of the graduation ceremonies where he and other local officials heard the gospel.
The program’s spiritual component has also impacted the community Students, along with Send Relief partners, trained in how to narrate Bible stories for evangelism and discipleship and have shared their faith with their families and friends. This has resulted in over 1,000 people hearing the gospel, 897 accepting Christ as their Lord and Savior, 272 individuals baptized, and 32 house Bible study groups.
Through the project’s success, others have been inspired, leading to increased enrollment and the expansion of the program and gospel.
Stories like Cynthia’s in the Central African Republic are why your generous support matters. It enables Send Relief to continue this vital work. By praying and giving, you are helping empower more young women and spread the gospel, changing generations in a nation that urgently needs it.
